How to play PSX games on my PSP?

1. Be sure that you have a custom firmware on your PSP.

2. You need to rip your psx games and turn them to image file. You’ll need a software like Alcohol120% or MagicISO.

3. Insert your psx cd to your cd-rom drive.

  1. I have the base.pbp in the files folder but when i try to convert something 'Cannot find STARTDAT Not a valid PSX eboot.pbp' comes up. I also have popstation which has been working fine, but i wanted to play chrono cross w/c seems to require a different game id to work. I tried to change it on popstation several times but that didnt work so i.
  2. Converting PSX Disc Image to PSP EBOOT. Extract the contents of the PSX2PSP.zip to a location on your PC. Launch PSX2PSP.exe and select Classic Mode Select the PSX game that you wish to convert ISO/PBP File The game title and ID information will automatically be filled. Select where you’d wish to save the EBOOT.PBP file Output PBP folder.

4. Open your ripping software, in my case, I’m using Alcohol120%.

5. Select “Image Making Wizard”.

The built-in PSP emulator for PS Vita can play PSX games flawlessly (via Adrenaline), however they must be in the PSP file format to work. PSX backups are usually found as disc images such as.iso or.bin +.cue files. PSX2PSP is a Windows application that will allow you to convert your PSX backup disc images to the PSP EBOOT.PBP file format. Once converted, they can easily be transferred to. I'm trying this method but it says cannot open.psx2psp v.1.4.2/ files base.pbp. Why this happens? All you need to do is Google PSX2PSP base.pbp, download it.

6. Select “Play Station” on the datatype and click “Next”.

7. Select CloneCD on the image format and click “Start”.

8. Wait until the process finishes. You now have converted your psx cd to an image file.

9. Download base.PBP here.

10. Download PSX2PSP v1.4.2 here.

11. Unzip PSX2PSP and copy the base.PBP to “Files” folder.

12. Open PSX2PSP and select “Classic mode” then click “OK”.

13. Browse and open the image file that you made earlier. Select Output folder and select an image that you want to use (background image must be 480×272).

14. Click “Convert”. You could also click “Preview” first before clicking “Convert” to preview your game.

5. Wait until the process finishes. You should now have a new folder containing your EBOOT.PBP on your selected output PBP directory.

16. Copy that folder to ms0:/PSP/GAME folder on your PSP.

17. Disconnect PSP from computer and go to game section.

18. Open your new PSX game and enjoy!
